Q : -Where are your treatment centres located?
A : -O2 Health hyperbaric treatment centres are located across the south island of New Zealand. Please click here for locations maps and contact details.
Q : -What is HBOT?
A : -HBOT stands for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Put simply, you’ll breathe 100% medical oxygen under a higher than normal pressure in order to help accelerate your recovery from certain injuries and conditions, and to help improve various health problems. Q : -How long does each treatment take?
A : -This depends on your treatment individually prescribed by our team of Doctors but most individual treatment sessions last for around one and a half hours at a time plus a little extra time for changing clothes etc. You will be prescribed a series of treatments by our Doctors.
Q : -How much does it cost?
A : -This depends on your individual treatment prescription. We are ACC approved and additionally certain insurance companies now see the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for several medical conditions. Finance can also be arranged. Q : -What’s the treatment involve?
A : -After your initial assessment with one of our Doctors you’ll get changed into our clothing and sit comfortably inside the treatment facility. Then we’ll simply pressurise the surrounding atmosphere with normal filtered air, where you’ll slip on an oxygen hood which will provide you with 100% pure medical oxygen to breath. It’s breathing the oxygen in a pressurised environment which can provide you with the accelerated healing benefits. Q : -Can your treatment help me?
A : -Hyperbaric medicine is used worldwide to help a variety of medical conditions. Historically the treatment was used to treat deep sea divers with decompression illness (also known as "the bends”) but recently the same technology has been developed for its usefulness in a variety of medical conditions and sports related problems. Q : -I've heard you treat animals as well as humans?
A : -Yes. Our sister company O2 VET was launched in 2008 and is currently helping various types of animals throughout New Zealand. We use totally separate treatment facilities installed into Veterinary Clinics but it’s exactly the same technology which can provide benefits to your animals including dogs that have been involved in road traffic accidents, illnesses of cats and broken wings of birds etc. Please click here for more information on how we can use hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help your pet or animal.
